NothingCanSeparate

I was in a class a few weeks ago and the group began to discuss sin.  The topic never fails to inspire conversation!  People shared that they grew up hearing about sin too much while others almost never heard about it at all.  Sin can be a lot of different things and it is often determined by the perspective of the person defining it.

With all the complexity that can evolve around sin I have found it personally helpful to simplify.  Currently I like the idea that sin is anything that separates you from God.  God desires a relationship with us and a healthy relationship requires presence.   If we believe this then the question is how present are we with God?  What distractions do we allow in our lives?  What areas would we rather not invite God to be a part of? Although we may not want to admit it, God is always present with us.

The truth is that we are all, daily, going to have things which challenge our relationship with God.  The Good News is that God paid the ultimate sacrifice for our sin.  Through Jesus’ death and resurrection the veil has been torn and nothing can separate us from our Creator.

“I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not present things or future things, not powers”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:38‬ ‭CEB‬‬
