I was on my Onewheel last week playing around on rough terrain. I just happened to cut the board to my left just at the top of an area covered with tiny nuts that had fallen from a tree. The board slipped right out from under me, I rolled over and popped back up on my feet. Three ladies were quite near and I immediately raised my thumb in the air and said, “I’m good!”

Falling is part of riding pretty much anything—skateboards, bikes, scooters—it’s all the same. At some point you will crash.
I have this pair of jeans that I have been wearing regularly for many years. They are full of holes, all of which I have personally worn into them. They look and feel very different from the way they did years ago, however they fulfill the same function as when I first bought them.
It is fortunate that my mother is an awesome seamstress because I’ve always been good at wearing holes in the knees of pants. At some point even my church pants, which I did try to be good with, would fall prey. I haven’t really slowed down that much and I’m still ripping holes in the knees of pants. I do have a few pairs without holes because there are certain places, situations, where my “holey” jeans simply wouldn’t be considered appropriate. I prefer the damaged ones, though. Every one of those holes was earned and those pants more accurately represent who I am today.
When we hear “Holy” the first things that come to mind are those considered sacred by most people. While those things may seem acceptable, it is only that which God considers sacred that is truly Holy.
It is written, “ You will be holy, because I am holy. ” 1 Peter 1:16 CEB
We—humanity—are God’s most valued creation. When you were born you were sacred in God’s eyes. Today you look different from the day you were born. You’ve been through many experiences, and like my favorite pair of jeans you probably have some wear and tear. Remember that your holey-ness cannot, and will not, ever prevent you from being sacred—and therefore Holy—to God. It was through great sacrifice that that veil was torn so wear your “holey pants” proudly and be confident in what God can do in, and through you.
