This morning the temperature outside was 30F. With current gas prices, I considered driving without pre-warming my truck, but cold temperatures won the battle. A few minutes later, as I climbed into my now cozy pickup, I thought to myself how inconvenient it was that we are at the end of March and it’s still winter!

Oh, how I long for spring! I’ll gladly accept my world blanketed in pollen to feel grass between my toes. I love being barefoot. A few months ago I decided to walk in the snow barefoot. It wasn’t pleasant at all, but it proved that I could tolerate the inconveniences. Although I enjoy being barefoot, the weather is beyond my control. I can however enjoy the blessing of socks and shoes.
I look forward to warmer days and being barefoot. In the meantime though, on days that should be warmer, it’s just wiser to be thankful for socks and trade frustration with cold temps for the promise of warmer days.
“My brothers and sisters, think of the various tests you encounter as occasions for joy.” James 1:2 CEB
Don’t underestimate how well you are made! We are able to be completely overwhelmed with the wonder of spring and durable enough to withstand the harshness of winter. Winter may seem longer this year, but spring is coming. Have faith and trust in seasons of trial–a new season lies before us, budding with renewal and full-fillment!
